"Sea You On The Other Side"

So if you follow me on tumblr (http://therobottakeover.tumblr.com/), you'll know I went through this whole painting step by step to show how I do a layered picture like this. It's the biggest robot I've ever done, and it's loosely based on the sea and the beach. It's the biggest robot I've ever done, and it marks four years of The Robot Takeover, so cheers to everyone who's helped out this gratuitously self-indulgent project over the years

“Attack on Memory”

So this is my painting I’ve been keeping under wraps for a while. It was an old canvas I was experimenting with, without any real aim or purpose. Then, when I was out walking listening to 'Attack on Memory' by Cloud Nothings I suddenly knew exactly what it had to look like. This is how every good Robot Takeover picture happens, ideas come to me basically fully formed, mostly when I'm listening to music. The tricky bit is transferring what I see in my minds eye onto canvas.

“In Spiral Carpets”

So to celebrate 50 posts of original robot takeover content (I don’t reblog, I do every painting and drawing and I take every photo) over on my tumblr blog, I thought I should get off my ass and actually do some painting (you know, like what this blogs meant to be about).
If you liked my picture, “Fairground of the Soul” a few months back, well tough cheese, cos this is painted over the top of it. I also did this painting super quick, like well under 2 hours for the whole thing, why stop when you’re on a roll?
