Horses for Courses

This painting took me a while, I wanted a good mixture of images again and I worked for a while on getting them right and underpainting everything. The words are from 'Lief Eriksson' from the album 'Turn Off the Bright Lights' by Interpol, as are most of the quotes I use. I was trying to paint what I picture when I listen to that song. Like Windows Media Player when you put on that image randomiser thing, but more specific to me, lol

Off the canvas

Back to the actual paintings and the reason anybody reads this blog, cos it ain't the witty social commentary. This is an idea that developed fairly quickly, I dont even know if it qualifies as a painting, I didn't want to do it in my usual hypercolours as I thought that'd make it look too much like somehing from Art Attack, but I spent a lot of time giving it a really rough texture, so it looks like the mooooooooooon, except it's not made of cheese

Life's a beach

When university is far too boring to handle me and my friends go to the beach nearby. This is the first photo of me on the blog, see if you can make out the funny face I'm pulling. Not. Anyway, its just a cool picture, so obviously I didn't take it and full credit goes to DC

System 3 is the shizz

When I paint, I only ever use Daler Rooney System 3 acrylics, I'm not fussy about paint really, I don't really know what's good and bad, I'm self taught, I just know what I like and thats how I paint. Anyways, I was running a bit low and couldn't find any paint at a good price in Belfast, so I some online, and I didn't realise how much paint I'd actually got, it made me very strangely happy to have this much paint :D

Robot Cakes

So a while ago it was a good friend of mines birthday, and she had a cupcake party (which is high up the list of manly activities) and of course it was inevitable that I made a robot cupcake. Only problem was, I tried to take a picture of it before it was dry and it all dribbled :s oops

Don't Dance on the Paisley Print Please

Here's a comission I popped out a while ago for someone, they wanted it for their sisters birthday. A TRT original is a great gift for a birthday. Or Christmas. Or Hunnica. Or a wedding present. Or a barmitzvah. Or a batmitzvah. Or an anniversairy. Or Valentines Day. Or whenever I'm low on cash from buying too many sweets and comics and need the money

I tried to bring together a lot of my usual elements, in a way that was more gentle than chaotic. By the way, I don't paint a new picture every day here, I'm working through a backlog of stuff here, lol, I paint quick, but not that quick, plus I have 2 jobs, and (nearly) a social life and an unhealthy addiction to my playstation (she'll never leave me)

Wear your robot on your heart

So after my wee post the other day about how I love it when people send me robot things I got a wee tag on the old Facebook in this picture, apparently its in a well known shop where boybands dress themselves (ok yes, and sometimes me too)

I must get one and then I can wander around like Snoop Dogg... Ok maybe I won't be exactly like him, granted, it may take a little more than that, but I'll get there in the end

Highlight of my day

I'm meant to study a lot. Sometimes studying is boring, and when you're studying there are always highlighters kicking about. This inevitably leads to drawing.

I'm pretty sure I have a full A3 pad full of highlighter drawings from when I was doing my A-Levels. This might be why I got such good results... and by good, I mean awful

He's some kind of man, some kind of... Pac Man

When you work in coffee shops, sometimes you need to kill time, and stupid stuff like this happens

And the quotes from this video, which is hilarious, I hate when they remake films. If they remake The Warriors somebody's gonna get kicked in the balls

Stars and Swipes

Here's a wee picture I did a while ago, I like stars me, and colours. It sorta reminds me of the album cover for Stone Roses: Stone Roses, which is an album I can always paint to, and you should definitely listen to if you have not already wrapped your ears around it

Gimme Munny

Although I only ever paint robots, it doesnt stop me drawing or painting on pretty much everything that isn't canvas too.  A while ago I painted a munny, which is like a blank doll thing. Of course, I did mine pretty colourful.
I made my girlfriend buy this for me for valentines day, much better than whatever it is guys are meant to get for valentines day. (What are they meant to get? Like aftershave?).
Anyway, they come with a random selection of accessories, and I mean random; mine came with a turd and a spanner. And something that was either a jaw or an indian headress. Anyways, here she blows;

He's obsessed with robots him

Occassionally somebody I know will send me something about robots. I love it when this happens, people should do it more often (*cough* hint *cough*). I heart these robot birthday cards someone sent me

REBOOT!

Ok, so this blogs been a bit neglected for a while, but don't worry, all 4  faithful followers, I'm bringing it back, and making it a bit more about my life in general, why the hell not?

A Robots Path is Never Simple

This one was a bit of a trip back to some old skool robot tubes, and a few sparkles, just cos i had them kicking about

Human After All

This one came about fairly quickly, i'd been reading a lot of comics and picked up a big canvas by chance. I wanted to work in darker colours for this one, and layer my paint well, and i think i did something pretty different with my robots

Throughout History, There Have Always Been Robots in Positions of Power

I'd like to tell you there's an extremely deep meaning to this picture, but to be honest i just tthought it was funny, and sometimes people read into art far too deeply. I did try to do some of my best painting for this, i wanted it to look so old-skool that no-one had thought to go that old skool before

Second Comission!

This one was my second comission, for someone who has always been a big fan of the Takeover from what i've heard. I wanted to do something mad, and i liked the idea of doing animals and other stuff again like i did in my first comission. Despite not being very big, this one took ages, cos i wanted to get it just right

A Robots Death Brings Great Sadness

This one was just me trying to do something different, i don't ever wanna be put in any kinda mould, but i like to think when people see my stuff, they know whose it is. Another idea that had been kicking about for a while, but i wasn't sure how to execute it. I wanted this one to get away from the hypercolour, and the words are some Interpol lyrics, if a song inspires me for a painting I like to try and fit the lyrics in

Robots Know Other Robots, Who Know Other Robots

This ideas another one i'd had for a while, surprisingly it only took an afternoon, top notch

Dancing on the Astral Planes

Ok, so this ones an idea I'd been holding onto for a wee while. It took even longer than I expected, but i was pleased with it in the end, it was very appropriate for the person i did it for

First Comission!

Ok, so not all these posts are gonna be in the order that i actually did the paintings, but that doesn't really matter. After gaining a bit of momentum with my pictures I got to do some cool stuff for people a couple of months ago. My uncle, who has always been a great supporter of my work, asked me to do a comission for him, he was pretty specific about sizes and what he wanted, and it had to be taken off the canvas and rolled, which was a good bit of learning
